The NYTimes today reports on the coversion of three of
six or so Manhattan
giant telco hubs being converted to giant data centers:

The latest conversion, at 375 Pearl Street, near the Brooklyn Bridge and
Police HQ, formerly owned by Verizon and mostly empty, has been sold to a
data center firm which claims it will be the tallest data center in the world.

Aptly, the tower is within the NYPD's
Ring
of Steel security zone as are a few thousand residents who don't at all
like being Homeland Security pork sauages.
All the hubs converted to data centers have Homeland Security-grade security
trappings: Jersey barriers, clunky planters, surly rent-a-guards,
USDA-approved-meat badges for scuttling workers, a mix of real and fake CCTVs,
idling black vans and limos and CIA-anonymous white delivery trucks spewing
toxics and paranoia, and delirium by real estate brokers at the upsurge in
over-inflated property values of hulks built by monopoly comms-patriotic-spies
now helping protect the free world with data center taps. One giant was bought
by Super-Leviathan Google.
375 Pearl's principal activity in recent years was to aid NYPD run its
international spy operation protecting the downtown center of global financical
corruption. NYPD was bribed into this role with unprecedented multi-million
dollar donations by Wall Street titans and real estate moguls like the thugs
re-building WTC, who got even richer than Croseus from the GWOT run-up and
dare not let it die, thus, the richly funded campaign to bloat the threat
of cybersecurity so that fortress data centers can be inserted into cowed
neighborhoods -- themselves target-rich with ethnics and immigrants who cannot
believe the failed fairy-tale promise of the US as an escape from
obessively-patriotic snoopers.
