Energy absorbing catch systems, used in conjunction with a daylight application of fragment retention film, is another mechanism for retaining and reducing debris hazards. Cables spanning the window will impede the flight of filmed glass and absorb a considerable amount of energy upon impact. These cable catch systems are demonstrated, through explosive testing, to be more efficient and effective than the more rigid catch bar systems.
