The school was made possible by the German CIMIC team from the International Security Assistance Force, Regional Command-North. The mission of the CIMIC team is to increase force protection for the airfield at Mazar-e Sharif by improving civilian projects throughout a 25km area around the base. Improving roads, schools and bridges helps to increase force protection for the airfield by fostering relationships with the local population making them more likely to report suspicious behavior.
