21 September 2013 DocumentCloud Contributors and Documents http://www.documentcloud.org/home Who We Are: Meet the people behind DocumentCloud DocumentCloud is a catalog of primary source documents and a tool for annotating, organizing and publishing them on the web. Documents are contributed by journalists, researchers and archivists. We're helping reporters get more out of documents and helping newsrooms make their online presence more engaging. DocumentCloud was founded in 2009 with a grant from the Knight News Challenge. After two years as an independent nonprofit organization, DocumentCloud became a project of Investigative Reporters and Editors in June of 2011. Cryptome: This suggests which contributors support editorial reporting with documents as well as the rise of document drop boxes to add bones to fleshy and flabby narratives. While most documents have links to related reports, many do not. Some have been withdrawn later which reveals the use of DocumentCloud for evanescent private sharing, change of mind, mistakes, errata, hoarding, baiting, taunting, teasing, jokes, messing with heads of prowlers, siphons, spies and competitors. Padding, overkill and preening are in full force, even a little bit of understatement and a whole lot of die-hard refusal to contribute to an open source not yet exploited for pay on demand. DocumentCloud conceitedly restricts subscribers to accredited information providers, meaning them not us, despite generously allowing us to access without insulting fee. Will this openness last or will a bait-and-switch paywall slam the door with defacement of the locked-box with ad excreta?
