Drop boxes are deceptive, all of them, suddenly gone highly popular with media as high-security protected, totally reliable, although carefully caveated to caution highly questionable material will have to be dutifully checked with highly-reputable authorities -- some of whom expected to vet and salt the boxes, covertly or overtly, to see what happens with tagged submissions, operators witting or unwitting. Cryptome like WikiLeaks among other battered boxers, warns that there can be no secure submissions online, other means must be utilitized to avoid easy online interception, decryption, tracking and sourcing. What these other means are is left to sources who must learn to avoid entrapment and stings, to protect themselves against misleading assurances of operators of drop boxes, pastebins, clouds, air gaps, cut-outs, torrents, reputable media. Tor and Tails, maybe safe, maybe unsafe, nobody knows what is going on with them outside the promoters and operators purview; don't bet your life on them they astutely warn. Cryptome, for example, regularly receives drops in a slew of formats, online, email, torrents, disks, snail mail, packages, Fedex, phone calls, faxes, face to face, forwards from others. It welcomes all these contributions, does no vetting, give no assurances of privacy and security, writes no narratives, instead warns regularly to be wary of promises made by the varieties of drop boxes running stings, traps, bait and switches, phishes, data harvesters -- not only by the Sabus but by those running the Sabus -- which are legion, expect them. Highly reputable drop boxes are not to be believed unless invested in their asymmetrical benefits.
