Pantex Security
Pantex processes and stores nuclear warhead components. Its security is paramount
for US national security based on a triad of nuclear weapons systems -- land,
sea and air. Fully armed systems are stored and prepared for use elsewhere.
Warheads are shipped from Pantex to military units and shipped to Pantex
for disassembly, pits and other components stored for possible reuse. It
is a unique point for assembling, disabling, disrupting and sabotaging warheads.
A Mars Bolt or an Achilles Heel.
Visible security beyond armed personnel includes weapons vehicles and at
least 9 layers of defensive measures -- watch towers, bollards, spikes, multiple
fences and sensors (human, radiological, odor, aural, environmental), lights.
Likely other civilian police, land and air defenses are not visible in satellite
photos.
Photos are dated 24 November 2014.
