A pair of decoy presidential limousines, unarmored, with the same license plate numbers, driven around in motorcades with accompanying protection vehicles in New York City during the UN conference on 23 September 2009.

The same two decoy limousines parked neared the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel where Obama was staying. A Secret Service agent standing nearby was asked, "are these the real Obama limousines?" He answered, grinning, "yes, these are the real things." At the UN, another Secret Service agent was asked when Obama would be leaving. He said, grinning, "not for a couple of hours." Five minutes later Obama's entourage came roaring out the the UN enclave. A third Secret Service agent told a photographer, "if you want to get a picture of a very important person, go stand at the corner down the block." Going there the photographer baited, waited -- no VIP.
