A few short months ago ANSI helped you celebrate the arrival of 1998 by
offering a free subscription to NSSN Enhanced, the subscription
fee-based component of our online standards information service, the
NSSN: A National Resource for Global Standards (http://www.nssn.org).
Now there's a brand new reason to celebrate! Via a link from the NSSN to
ANSI's Electronic Standards Store (ESS), customers have a fast,
convenient, cost-efficient way to purchase and download technical
documents right at their desk.
Here's how it works:
A user searches the NSSN and identifies a document of interest. If the
document is available electronically the user will be linked to ANSI's
Electronic Standards Store, available via ANSI Online (www.ansi.org). If
a document is not available from ANSI's ESS then information is provided
about how to obtain a hard-copy version of the text. In addition, NSSN
staff are establishing links that will seamlessly transition the user
from the NSSN directly to the electronic order capabilities of the
relevant standards developers and information resellers.
Introduced in late January, nearly 250 of the most frequently requested
American National Standards and International Standards are already
stocked in the databases of the Electronic Standards Store
(www.ansi.org). Included in the collection are large numbers of
standards produced by Accredited Standards Committees T1
(telecommunications) and NCITS (previously known as ASC X3 on
information technology), as well as documents ranging from industrial
automation systems to film, chemicals to respiratory protection.
The international management systems standards for Quality (ISO 9000
series) and the Environment (ISO 14000 series) are also available.
Inventory in the Electronic Standards Store is expanding rapidly and the
addition of several hundred new national and international standards is
planned for addition to the store during the Summer months.
Customers may use a major credit card (AMEX, MC or VISA) to purchase
standards directly via a secure server on the World Wide Web. The
document can be downloaded immediately or at any time within seven days
of purchase. ANSI guarantees the integrity of its electronic standards
by only posting files in the non-revisable Portable Document Format
(.pdf) + Text (this format provides the advantages of searchable text
while ensuring that the document is identical in appearance to the
original).
Standards at your desktop - just one more way ANSI and its SDO-partners
can assist you with the identification and acquisition of the technical
documents you need.
