L3OZR33S3A-009, ADVANCED TEMPEST TESTING

DESCRIPTION: This is a DOD inter-agency course for engineers/technicians in the advanced skills required to perform TEMPEST testing. Training includes: communications theory, intermediate TEMPEST analysis, developing TEMPEST test plans, TEMPEST test documentation, TEMPEST test execution, rationale for limits and requirements, and unique field phenomena.

PREREQUISITES: Completion of the L3OZR4934-003/L3OZR4934-010/ L3OZR33S3A-010, TEMPEST Testing Basics course is required. Further, at least one year of TEMPEST testing or analysis experience is mandatory. Possession of engineering AFSCs 62E3E or 33S3A, electronic technician AFSCs 2E3X1, equivalent MOSs, or SOS/Civilian Specialty Identifier is mandatory. Further, student must have a working knowledge of algebra, logarithms, scientific and engineering notation. Failure to meet these prerequisites will serve as the basis for disenrollment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Student must be a U.S. citizen and possess a SECRET clearance, or attend when the Secretary of Defense deems it appropriate.

L3OZR33S3A-010, TEMPEST TESTING BASICS

DESCRIPTION: DOD interagency course for engineers or technicians in the basic skills needed to perform TEMPEST testing. Training includes analysis fundamentals, TEMPEST testing documentation, detection system components, NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-92 testing requirements and test procedures, and NSTISSAM TEMPEST/2-91 crosstalk procedures. Also included are equipment and facility zone testing procedures (NSTISSAM TEMPEST/2-92), and NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-93 and 1-95, shielded enclosure testing procedures.

PREREQUISITES: Completion of the L3OZR4934-000/L3OZR33S3A-000, TEMPEST Fundamentals or equivalent knowledge is required. Student must be assigned or scheduled to be assigned duties involving TEMPEST testing. Working knowledge of oscilloscope and frequency generators is mandatory. Possession of engineering AFSCs 62E3E or 33S3A electronic technician AFSCs 2E3X1, equivalent MOSs, or DOD Civilian Specialty Identifier is mandatory. L3OZR33S3A-011, HIJACK AND NONSTOP TESTING

DESCRIPTION: This is a DOD inter-agency course designed for TEMPEST testing personnel who are or will be performing HIJACK/NONSTOP testing. The course will train students in the operation of the test detection systems and in the fundamental requirements of HIJACK/NONSTOP testing.

PREREQUISITES: Completion of the L3OZR4934-003/L3OZR4934-010/ L3OZR33S3A-010, TEMPEST Testing Basics course and one year testing experience is mandatory. Student must be assigned or scheduled to be assigned to duties involving HIJACK/NONSTOP Testing. Experience in TEMPEST testing and use of electronic test equipment is mandatory. Possession of engineering AFSCs 62E3E, 33S3A, electronic technician AFSCs 2E3X1, equivalent MOSs, or equivalent DOD/Civilian Specialty Identifier is desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Student must be a U.S. citizen and possess a SECRET clearance, or attend when the Secretary of Defense deems it appropriate.

L3OZR33S3A-013, TEMPEST FUNDAMENTALS

DESCRIPTION: This is a DOD inter-agency course that provides training in the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties for entry level positions in the national TEMPEST community. It is designed for personnel whose duties require a general knowledge of TEMPEST related functions and the ability to locate specific guidance in TEMPEST documents. The scope of training includes TEMPEST's role in Information Warfare, the TEMPEST phenomenon, Threat Update, National Policy, TEMPEST Countermeasures, Government TEMPEST Resources, and the future of TEMPEST Policy and Program Issues.

PREREQUISITES: Student must be assigned or scheduled to be assigned to duties requiring knowledge of TEMPEST related activities and information.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Student must be a U.S. citizen and possess a SECRET clearance, or attend when the Secretary of Defense has deemed it appropriate.

L3OZR33S3A-014: TEMPEST FOR SYSTEM INSTALLATION AND FACILITY DESIGN

DESCRIPTION: This course provides training to installers and engineers in the knowledge and skills needed to use TEMPEST criteria in the installation and design of TEMPEST approved communications systems and facilities. The scope of training includes the TEMPEST environment, grounding requirements, filter and isolation devices, facility and equipment zoning concepts, equipment installation guidelines, distribution system guidelines, utility system guidelines, sensitive compartmented information (SCI) environment considerations, shielded environment requirements/characteristics, RED/BLACK installation inspection, and tactical/deployed environment characteristics/considerations.

PREREQUISITES: Completion of the L3OZR4934-013/L3OZR33S3A-013 TEMPEST Fundamentals course or equivalent knowledge is required. Student must have working knowledge of basic algebra, scientific and engineering notation, and logarithms. Experience in designing and engineering electronic communications and secure systems and possession of an engineering AFSC, MOS, or civilian equivalent is desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Student must be a U.S. citizen and possess a SECRET clearance, or attend when the Secretary of Defense has deemed it appropriate.

SCHEDULING TRAINING

All training seats must be processed by the Quota Control Agency, HQ 2AF/DOPR, through the Air Force Personnel Management System (PMS). These seats are obtained differently by the different Services and Agencies.

AIR FORCE: Submit requirements to the local Military Personnel Flight (MPF), formerly CBPO, on AF Form 3933. The MPF inputs the request into the PMS for Command Headquarters approval (units obtain seats only through their Command Headquarters). Obtain request status through the MPF or Command Headquarters Quota Control Management Officers. Government civilians should contact their servicing Civilian Personnel Office (CPO).

ARMY: Seat quota requirements must be coordinated between the unit's Command Headquarters and HQ 2AF/DOPR (units obtain seats only through their Command Headquarters). Obtain request status from Army Command Headquarters only.

NAVY: Seat quota requirements must be coordinated between CNTECHTRA and HQ 2AF/DOPR. Obtain seats or request status through CNTECHTRA/N1232 only. The following is provided for information:

BILLETING INFORMATION

Billeting arrangements are the individual's responsibility. Call DSN 473-3622/5397 or Commercial (210) 671-3622/5397 for billeting information. TDY officers should make lodging requests to the Visiting Officers Quarters (VOQ). Also, students should plan on obtaining commercial transportation to and from the airport.

The orders must arrive ten working days prior to the class start date. Three more copies of the orders will be required upon arrival at the school.
