With only 8 business days until this conference (which attracts delegates from around the world) most of the available places are already reserved. If you attend, we're sure you are going to enjoy learning from our great lineup of international speakers at the Global Supply Chain, RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) & GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) Standards conference on 14th October in Toronto. Here's a glimpse at some of them:

During this conference you will hear how 'end-users' are progressing with their RFID / GTIN projects as Peter Winer, conference co-Chair and leading RFID expert, interviews representatives from Home Depot (retail), Embarcadero Systems (transportation), Proctor & Gamble (manufacturing) and Imperial Oil /Esso (distribution).

By the way, Keith Dierkx from Embarcadero is flying in from San Francisco specially for this conference. Peter Winer, who's also from California, will conduct these exclusive interviews between conference presentations, as he insightfully describes the most important issues in RFID and GTIN supply chain deployments. Peter's outstanding knowledge on the issues involved makes his independent overview and analysis of this complex landscape invaluable and not to be missed.

Stuart Pothan's dulcet Scottish tones will kick things off with an introduction to the importance of GTIN standards to RFID deployments before Sunrise (1st January) 2005.

Next you'll hear Nigel Woods engagingly explain how these new global trading item standards and data repositories will ensure global interoperability and why it all matters so much to your organization.

As a delegate you will have an RFID tag in your badge and Paul Heino will briefly explain explain how RFID technology can track the movement of delegates (as 'products') by tracking their movements around the conference. This demonstration will illustrate the tremendous potential for greater efficiency through RFID-centric automation. Don't worry, there's NO risk to your privacy.

In keeping with the international flavour, we have another three American speakers coming specially to present at this conference. First there's Ajay Ramachandran from California, who will explores the enabling technologies and how to link EPC event information with other applications to enhance supply chain operations and customer service.

Ajay is followed by David Wertheimer, a speaker whose work with customers like Sony, Alcoa, Qualcom, Medela and Pentel has earned him the respect he deserves as he looks empathetically at the challenges RFID in warehouse management and inventory applications may pose from the customers point of view.

Then, again from the U.S., Scott Burroughs, a thought leader and visionary in the creation and development of the world's largest computer maker's RFID solutions strategy will talk stretch our minds with the possiblities these smart technologies have to offer.

Dean Prevost will discuss the requirements for evaluating, developing and implementing a business solution using RFID technology and he'll tell you how some real world users are progressing with their RFID deployment.

The new business and technology standards point to RFID as being the next technology to improve the management of business activity across the supply chain.  Your forward planning must include the presentation by Pierre Deschamps who will give a fascinating yet realistic, high-level roadmap of what to expect from RFID over the next 18 months.

Brian Sterling will review the current status of whole chain food traceability as an RFID application. This will be especially helpful for organizations that must comply with new regulations for tracking and tracing their food (drug and other) products.

Will RFID solve traceability requirements and keep us safe from tainted or sabotaged products? Brad Cameron, Lead Consultant on Can-Trace Produce Pilot; and, Brian Chamberlain, Project Lead for the American Produce Marketing Association's Traceabilty Project will examine RFID as a tool to track and monitor the movement of raw materials to delivered goods, and the ensuing support that RFID provides for recalls, when required.

Tom Berend will review the business issues that you need to know when you are shipping product to Wal-Mart, demonstrate an RFID ‘Portal’, and talk about how RFID integrates with mid-market business solutions.

Paul Heino will be joined by Peter Winer to discuss the impact of large additional volumes of data on IT systems. They will also address the nature of the consumer experience and the risks to privacy which attend this technology.

The Experts and Visionaries Panel session will provide conference delegates with the opportunity to put their questions to the experts involved with this conference and hear from some of this industry's visionaries what RFID will mean for the future of global supply chains.
